How to Apply for a 1-year visa (Visa extension)


Upon entering Thailand, your visa will be valid for 90 days only.
Step 1 Contact the visa supporting staff at the International Relations Office, 2nd floor, building 4, 45 days before the visa expiration date.
Step 2 Once the required documents have been completed and submitted to the office, please allow at least 5 days for your paperwork to be completed.

Required documents to submit:
1. A copy of passport face page, current visa, last entry stamp, and departure card (TM6).
2. A copy of the address notification (TM30).
3. A copy of your CMU student ID card (front and back).
4. An original copy of your CMU grade report (not necessary for 1st-year students).
5. A copy of the Notification of staying over 90 days sheet (TM47)

Step 3 Once your paperwork is ready, the overseas student will need to take the paperwork to the Chiang Mai Immigration Office (Open Monday to Friday, 8:00-12:00 and 13:00-15.30).

Remark: There are limited queues per day; students must have all paperwork check to make sure it is complete before receiving a queue. It is advised that students pick-up a queue number at the immigration office in the early morning.

3. Acknowledgement of Penalties for a Visa Overstay download form
4. Visa paperwork from FON CMU
5. 2 passport photos
6. 1,900 THB visa fee (cash only)


Note

- You will be fined 500 baht per day (maximum 20,000 baht) after your visa expires (no more than 30 days expiration). After you pay your fine, you can proceed with your visa extension. If your visa is more than 30 days expired, you will have to leave Thailand and re-enter in order to extend your visa.
- All visa paperwork from FON CMU is valid for 30 days after the date issued
